There are a lot of ways to celebrate the autumn and Halloween season. For me, I like to take long walks around the park when the leaves are changing and collect cute pumpkins in multiple colours and shapes. I love trying out new recipes with seasonal items, and I hoard pumpkin spice candles as much as the next girl, but one thing I always do is spend my evenings watching autumnal and Halloween movies.
This year, I’ve created a calendar with a movie to watch each night during October. I’ve added some of the most popular Halloween movies and included my favourites and others I haven’t seen yet.
This calendar is a combination of cosy autumnal films, think When Harry Met Sally, classic family Halloween movies like Casper and Hocus Pocus, and some of my all-time favourite movies that I watch no matter the season when I need a pick me up, like Practical Magic and Knives Out.
I’m not a fan of horror films, so I haven’t included any scary movies besides Ready or Not. I prefer spooky vibes with cute backgrounds and cosy characters.
My 2023 Autumn/Halloween movie calendar
I have the month set up as they do in the US (starting on Sunday instead of Monday) because if I did Monday to Sunday as we do in Europe, I would need six rows because October 1st is on a Sunday, and I couldn’t fit it in my planner! So, if you’re in Europe, like me, the calendar might look a bit confusing!

I selected Practical Magic as the first movie to watch in October because it has the perfect atmosphere for a romantic autumnal and spooky October.
To get ready for this season, I’m buying a huge amount of hot chocolate, lots of popcorn packages and vegan sweets. I also found the cosiest plaid blanket. Let the spooky season begin!
