Personal entry: Getting surgery

It’s only been ten days since the start of March, and I can already tell you this month sucks. I got jaw surgery last week because I was born with a beautifully messed up bone structure that would only get worse with age until it’d be impossible for me to eat and breathe properly. So after saving for years, I finally got surgery. They cut me open, readjusted my jaw, cut a few bones and added a nose job so my face would look symmetrical. … More Personal entry: Getting surgery

January 2022 Book Wrap Up

Being a new year, I wanted to focus on my mental health, so this month I chose three non-fiction books about social anxiety, introversion and how social media affects us. I also chose two books from Mean Book Club’s selection for their new season which has just started. I finished the month with an equally depressing and fun read, which became my favourite of January. Overall, I read seven books. … More January 2022 Book Wrap Up

My favourite books of 2021

This year has been long, but it has also gone by so fast I’m amazed we’re days away from 2022. I’ve never read as many books in a year as I have in 2021. Being bored out of my mind and having nowhere to go has helped me achieve the insane number of 90 books in 365 days. (It might not be insane for the book influencers out there, but it is for me, a mere bookish girl). … More My favourite books of 2021

Knitting a scarf for the first time

I started 2021 with some basic goals, one was to read more non-fiction, which I ended up loving, explore a vegan diet, reduce my use of plastic, etc. But one of the most challenging goals was to learn to knit a scarf. So I decided to tackle that in November, when finally, after what felt like months, I managed to knit what looks and feels like a big, wobbly scarf. The scarf you see here was my second attempt, as I failed dramatically the first time, which I won’t post here because it’s too embarrassing even to show a handful of strangers on the internet. … More Knitting a scarf for the first time

A small winter cross-stitch

I’ve been in a kind of craft slump. After my failed first attempt at knitting a scarf, I was incapable of crafting anything at all until I bought this old Craftpod kit on Etsy. I thought an easy, fast project like this cute winter cross-stitch would help me get out of my crafter’s block. And it did; it even gave me enough motivation to try to knit a new scarf. I have the wool skeins starting at me as I write this. … More A small winter cross-stitch

November 2021 Book Wrap Up

I wrote a post about how I’ve been feeling weird this November, experiencing some symptoms of SAD for the first time. That has influenced the amount and the type of books I read this month. I couldn’t focus on a book, Practical Magic took me weeks to finish, which is weird because I enjoyed the story, I just couldn’t be bothered to pick up my kindle. Then came Eleanor Oliphant, which broke me into tiny pieces as I could see my social awkwardness painfully reflected in the book. I tried to fix that with The Comfort Book, followed by In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About It. But they weren’t much help, and my brain wasn’t in the right headspace for positive, hopeful essays. … More November 2021 Book Wrap Up
